Warrick County, Indiana - Replaced their pre-existing manual recyclable sorting system with a brand new fully automated Green Machine® Single-Stream Recycling System, equipped with the latest in sorting technology. This upgrade has proven to be a great success for Warrick County by increasing their processing capacity, improving sorting accuracy, decreasing materials going to landfill and the need for outside recycling services, and reducing labor costs and workforce challenges.
With their pre-existing manual sorting system, Warrick County could only handle 6–8truckloads per week, requiring a fully staffed team of hand-sorters approximately 52.5 hours to process. With their new Green Machine system, they can process the same amount in 6.5 hours and have increased their throughput capacity to 48–60 truckloads per week. The increase in throughput capacity has allowed neighboring communities a more cost-efficient option for their recycling needs.
Thanks to the high level of automation provided in the Green Machine system, Warrick County has achieved a dramatic reduction in landfill waste. With state-of-the-art artificial intelligent optical and robotic sorters, patented Green Screens® screening systems, and second chance re-run capabilities, Warrick County has reduced their system residuals heading to landfill down from 40% to an impressive 2%, maximizing their resource recovery and promoting a more sustainable future for their community.
With their new Green Machine system, Warrick County was able to reduce their manual labor requirements down from a demanding twenty-person crew to a highly efficient team of just eight. Previously, Warrick County’s operation required a large workforce to manually separate recyclables by hand which resulted in high labor costs, frequent turnover, and personnel recruitment challenges. With the deployment of Green Machine’s automated sorting technology, Warrick County has lowered overhead expenses, improved workplace efficiency, reduced physical strain on workers, and minimized labor-related disruptions.
"Partnering with Green Machine to build our single-stream recycling system was one of the best decisions we've made. Their team worked closely with us to design a system that not only met our current processing requirements but also positioned us for future growth. Since running our new system, we've increased our processing capacity, reduced labor costs, and significantly improved material recovery and purity rates. The efficiency and reliability of the system has exceeded our expectations. Green Machine’s expertise and dedication to providing the right solution to meet our specific goals has truly transformed our operation, and we couldn’t be happier with the results." – Freddie Rowland, Superintendent, Warrick County Solid Waste and Recycling Center.
The impact of this transformation extends beyond just Warrick County’s facility. By implementing Green Machine’s automated sorting technology, they have set a new standard for efficiency and sustainability in the region. The ability to process significantly more recyclables with fewer resources has not only strengthened their operations but has also fostered new partnerships with local communities and waste haulers. This achievement demonstrates the tangible benefits of investing in cutting-edge recycling solutions, paving the way for amore sustainable future.
